WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC announced the election of Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) as the incoming ASPIRE PAC Chair. Chairwoman Strickland will be the third Chair in ASPIRE PAC’s history and the first Korean American Chair.
“It is an honor to serve as ASPIRE PAC Chair and continue the work of my friend and colleague Grace Meng,” said Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10). “I understand the importance of delivering victories for the AANHPI community, the fastest growing group of voters in the nation. While our AANHPI Democratic caucus is now the largest it has ever been, our work doesn’t stop. ASPIRE PAC will continue to fight for more resources for our incumbents, our candidates, and our voters.”
Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland proudly represents Washington’s 10th Congressional District, which covers parts of Pierce County and Thurston County. Born in Seoul, South Korea to an African American father and South Korean mother, she is the first African American to represent the Pacific Northwest at the federal level and one of the first Korean American women elected to Congress in its 232-year history. She serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Armed Services Committee.
Strickland previously served as an ASPIRE PAC Vice Chair and as Co-Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Frontline Program in the 2024 cycle. She is also a Chief Deputy Whip in the House Democratic Caucus, Secretary of the Congressional Black Caucus, and a member of the New Democrat Coalition.
Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee (ASPIRE PAC) is committed to supporting candidates of AAPI descent and incumbents who represent large communities of AAPI voters. In 2024, they helped elect 4 new AANHPI Democrats to Congress.
