WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC announced the endorsements of two additional candidates for Congress: Gil Cisneros, running in California’s 31st Congressional District, an open seat held by retiring Rep. Grace Napolitano; and Derek Tran, running in California’s 45th Congressional District against Republican Michelle Steel. ASPIRE PAC Chair Grace Meng released the following statements on the endorsements:
Gil Cisneros (CA-31)
“Gil Cisneros has been an incredible ally to the AANHPI community. When he previously served in Congress, he prioritized his AANHPI constituents through in-language outreach, hiring AANHPI staff from the community, and fighting for their priorities in Washington, like gun safety reform, resources for Asian American-owned small businesses, and protecting reproductive rights. We can trust Gil as an advocate for all Asian Americans in the San Gabriel Valley, and ASPIRE is excited to endorse his campaign.”
Derek Tran (CA-45)
“As a son of Vietnamese refugees, Derek Tran deeply understands the issues facing the AANHPI community in Little Saigon in Orange County and California’s 45th Congressional District, and ASPIRE is proud to endorse his campaign. Michelle Steel continues to put politics over people and take extreme positions that are out of step with the AANHPI community. Derek Tran can be trusted to be a real voice for our community and fight to protect reproductive rights, lower healthcare costs, and push for common-sense gun safety legislation.”
