ASPIRE PAC Announces Two Congressional Endorsements

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC announced the endorsements of two Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) candidates for Congress: Dr. Jennifer Tran, running in the open CA-12 seat; and Kim Nguyen, running against Michelle Steel in CA-45. Chair Grace Meng released the following statement on the endorsements:

“Dr. Jennifer Tran has been a leader in her community and has tirelessly fought to promote equity and fairness for all. As President of the Oakland Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce she fought to secure the resources and funding her community needed during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the inaugural Executive Director of The Progressive Vietnamese American Organization, she has advocated for policies that benefit our community and understands the power of the AANHPI coalition. Dr. Tran knows the challenges that Oakland families face and will always fight for their values, and ASPIRE PAC is proud to endorse her campaign.

“Kim Nguyen is the personification of the American Dream and ASPIRE PAC is excited to endorse her campaign. Kim has devoted her young life to public service and representing Garden Grove and its proud and vibrant Vietnamese community. She has a record of putting Orange County families first and fighting to uphold women’s health rights, lower the cost of living, and keep communities safe from gun violence. Kim would make history as the first Asian-Latina in Congress and she can be trusted to be a voice for all the constituents in her district.”

Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee (ASPIRE PAC) is the political arm of the AANHPI Members of Congress. ASPIRE PAC is committed to supporting candidates of AANHPI descent and incumbents who represent large communities of AANHPI voters. According to the 2020 census, the AANHPI community is the fastest-growing demographic in the country. In addition, in the 2020 and 2022 elections, the AANHPI community increased its voter turnout more than any other community of color. There are currently 21 AAPI Members of Congress, including two U.S. Senators.
