ASPIRE PAC Announces Investments in Georgia AAPI Community Ahead of December 6th Runoff

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC announced several key investments to mobilize the Georgia Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community ahead of the December 6th Senate runoff. In addition to making culturally competent, on-the-ground investments, ASPIRE PAC members campaigned alongside Senator Warnock during this past GOTV weekend. ASPIRE PAC Chair Grace Meng issued the following statement:

“The AAPI community in Georgia is the fastest growing community of color in the state and will prove to be the difference for Sen. Warnock in the December 6th runoff election. ASPIRE PAC stepped up in 2020 to help mobilize the AAPI vote, and we are doing it again in 2022 to help ensure Sen. Warnock’s re-election. ASPIRE has been making smart, targeted investments that directly impact the AAPI community all cycle, and we will continue that approach in Georgia with in-language radio ads and targeted voter canvassing programs. I’m also proud that a strong contingent of our board traveled to Georgia this past weekend for GOTV events, as we campaigned alongside Sen. Warnock to ensure the AAPI community has another record turnout on election day.”

ASPIRE PAC’s investments in the Georgia AAPI community included: in-language radio ads in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean playing throughout Georgia; a paid canvassing operation targeting AAPI voters and Asian businesses that they patron in Dekalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett counties; in-language literature in 5 languages dropped at over 8,000 doors; and ethnic media outreach, including television, radio, and print. In addition, ASPIRE members traveled to Georgia for GOTV weekend, including ASPIRE PAC Chair Grace Meng and Reps. Judy Chu, Pramila Jayapal, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Marilyn Strickland, and Mark Takano. The members attended multiple AAPI canvassing events, AAPI small business roundtables, an AAPI rally, and AAPI houses of worship events.

ASPIRE PAC is dedicated to uplifting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, and Georgia’s AAPI community is one of the fastest-growing in the country. AAPI voters were a decisive factor in President Biden and Senator Warnock’s 2020 victories as AAPI voter turnout nearly doubled from 73,000 to 134,000 from 2016 to 2020. More AAPI voters supported Democrats in 2020 and 2021 (57.9% in the 2020 general election and 58.1% in the 2021 runoff), and continued that trend in November, supporting Sen. Warnock at 60%.
