ASPIRE PAC Endorses Nevada’s Bid to Hold First 2028 Presidential Primary

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Asian American & Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee (ASPIRE PAC) Chair Marilyn Strickland issued the following statement endorsing Nevada’s bid to hold the first 2028 Democratic presidential primary:

“The diversity of Nevada’s voters best represents the broad coalition that a viable 2028 Democratic presidential candidate must have to take back the White House. Candidates who can win the primary in a battleground state with significant Asian, Black, and Latino primary voters will have a solid path to the Democratic nomination and can defeat a Republican in the general election. Of all the early primary states, Nevada has the largest and fastest-growing Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) population with nearly 270,000 eligible voters, making up nearly 12 percent of the electorate. 

“Early, consistent, and meaningful engagement with these voters is essential to developing a winning strategy for 2028. Designating Nevada as the first-in-the-nation presidential primary will require every candidate to engage Asian American communities early on, and signal that these voters must not be ignored or taken for granted.
