WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee (ASPIRE PAC) today announced the endorsements of two Indian American candidates for Congress: Dr. Jasmeet Bains, running in California’s 22nd Congressional District against Republican David Valadao; and Dr. Tina Shah, running in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District against Republican Thomas Kean, Jr.
ASPIRE PAC Chair Marilyn Strickland released the following statements on the endorsements:
“Dr. Jasmeet Bains has devoted her career caring for our most vulnerable neighbors, while Republican David Valadao voted to rip health care away from thousands of working families. The difference could not be more clear. It’s time for a leader who puts people first. Jasmeet is fighting to ensure Central Valley families get the representation they deserve.”
“As a triple board-certified physician, Dr. Tina Shah swore an oath to do no harm—but the same cannot be said for Republican Thomas Kean Jr., who voted to kick New Jersey families off their health insurance to give tax breaks to billionaires. Tina is the one we can trust to protect health care, lower costs, and stand up to special interests.”
