Anuj Dixit grew up on March Air Force Base in Riverside County, grounded in the values of service, hard work, and community. He is the son of immigrants and his father is a six-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Anuj grew up believing in the American Dream: if you work hard and treat people the right way, you can build a better life. But for too many working and middle-class families here in the Inland Empire, that dream has slipped further and further out of reach.
Anuj’s commitment to justice was forged in tragedy. He lost his grandparents, aunt, and cousins in the Pan Am 103 (Lockerbie) bombing, and came of age in the shadow of 9/11. Those moments cemented his determination to fight for what’s right and defend the values that bind us together as Americans.
That call to justice led Anuj to the law, where he could ensure working and middle-class families have a voice in a system that is too often against them. As a lawyer, he defended the voting rights of working and middle-class Americans who had them unfairly ripped away by extreme, and illegal, forms of gerrymandering. He prepared experts and victims for Congressional hearings, clerked for a federal judge, and won some of the toughest legal fights at the highest levels.
Fundamentally, Anuj believes that fair elections is how the middle class and working families have a seat at the table.
Now, Anuj is running for Congress to shake up a system that’s been rigged for decades by insiders like Congressman Ken Calvert. Anuj is bringing fresh energy and bold ideas to make Washington work for the middle class, like making it easier to open a business, find a good-paying job, and help more Americans get ahead in life. He’ll lead the charge on going after big businesses that buy elections and dodge taxes. Anuj will fight to cut middle-class taxes and make California more affordable.
Off the campaign trail, you’ll find Anuj watching Lakers games, singing karaoke, or deep into a board game. He also helps run his family’s health clinic, which provides essential care to patients in the community. Living today in the Inland Empire, Anuj is a graduate of UCLA and Columbia law school.
