WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC announced its endorsement of Kamala Harris for President of the United States, following the news that President Joe Biden is dropping out and not pursuing re-election. ASPIRE PAC leadership released the following statements:
“I commend President Biden on his historic achievements and for his tireless work on behalf of our AANHPI communities. We are forever indebted to him for his service. Now, we have a historic opportunity to elect the first South Asian and Black woman President. Now is the time to unify behind Kamala Harris, the most qualified candidate and the right person to lead our country forward. She has proven herself as a leader, as a voice for the AANHPI community, and as a trusted partner in the Biden-Harris administration. Most of all, Kamala Harris is the person we need at this moment to restore Roe v. Wade and fight back against Donald Trump’s agenda to further rip away women’s reproductive freedoms. I urge our delegates to the Democratic National Convention to swiftly move forward in the process to nominate Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket. The Asian American community stands behind Kamala Harris, and we look forward to working together to elect the first AANHPI President of the United States,” said ASPIRE PAC Chair Grace Meng.
“President Biden has faithfully and honorably served our nation. We owe him deep gratitude for all he has done with a sharp focus on improving people’s lives. Vice President Harris has been his partner and is the most qualified to succeed him. She has my full endorsement and support,” said ASPIRE PAC Vice Chair Marilyn Strickland.
“I join President Biden in fully endorsing Kamala Harris to be our Democratic nominee for President of the United States. I was with Vice President Harris when she spoke at our Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote Presidential Town Hall in Philadelphia last week and for our AANHPI community she made clear that she is one of us, she hears us, and she will empower us. We have seen through her leadership and action that she has always been ready and able to step up to lead this country as its commander-in-chief, and I am one hundred percent behind her,” said ASPIRE PAC Vice Chair Jill Tokuda.
