WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC officially endorsed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the first AANHPI Vice President, for re-election ahead of Lunar New Year. ASPIRE Chair Grace Meng released the following statement on the endorsement:
“The support of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community will be critical as Democrats look to retake the House Majority and retain the Senate and White House in this year’s elections. President Biden knows that the AANHPI vote matters and his Administration has worked tirelessly to prioritize our community’s values. ASPIRE PAC is proud to endorse President Biden for President because the progress made by the Biden Administration has been progress made for our AANHPI communities.
“President Biden has stood alongside our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in anti-Asian hate, signing into law the Covid-19 Hate Crimes Act. An overwhelming majority of AAPIs support gun safety legislation, and we are thankful that President Biden worked to sign into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most meaningful gun safety legislation in our country in 30 years that helps keep our communities safe. And the Inflation Reduction Act lowered health care premiums for AANHPI families and created additional tax credits for AANHPI-owned small businesses because President Biden understands that the AANHPI community deserves greater economic opportunities.
“ASPIRE PAC is grateful for the early investments in AANHPI-targeted ads by the Biden campaign, especially its culturally competent in-language materials. We look forward to working alongside the campaign to help ensure that the AANHPI vote turns out in November and once again helps to deliver the White House to President Biden.”
Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee (ASPIRE PAC) is the political arm of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Members of Congress. According to the 2020 census, the AAPI community is the fastest-growing demographic in the country. In addition, in the last Presidential elections in 2020, the AAPI community increased its voter turnout more than any other community of color. There are currently 21 AAPI Members of Congress, including two U.S. Senators, and two new Members of Congress – Shri Thanedar (MI-13) and Jill Tokuda (HI-02).
