WASHINGTON, DC – Today, ASPIRE PAC announced that it is endorsing Nevada’s bid to become the First in the Nation presidential primary.
ASPIRE PAC is dedicated to uplifting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and of the early primary states, Nevada has the largest and fastest growing AAPI population at 209,384, or just over 11% of Nevada’s total population. In addition, ASPIRE PAC believes it is important to recognize the growing political power of the AAPI community, as it increased its voter turnout in the 2020 elections more than any other community of color and played a key role in Georgia and nationwide in delivering Democrats control of both the Senate and the White House. If Nevada were to host the first primary, it would encourage presidential campaigns to engage the AAPI community earlier in the cycle and more meaningfully. ASPIRE PAC has urged that the AAPI community not be taken for granted, and early engagement would not only demonstrate the importance of AAPI priorities to the Democratic Party, but also strengthen the relationship between our Party and the AAPI community.
Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Rising & Empowering Political Action Committee (ASPIRE PAC) is the political arm of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Members of Congress. ASPIRE PAC is committed to supporting candidates of AAPI descent and incumbents who represent large communities of AAPI voters. According to the 2020 census, the AAPI community is the fastest-growing demographic in the country. In addition, in 2020 the AAPI community increased its voter turnout more than any other community of color. There are currently 21 AAPI Members of Congress, including two U.S. Senators.
